Scott Broughton is the Center Director for the Advantage Kentucky Alliance (AKA), a NIST-MEP affiliate working with companies to implement manufacturing “best practices”.

With more than 25 years of experience specializing in product development for B2B and B2C, Scott has experience taking products/services “cradle-to-grave” working in the automotive, lighting, and environmental/safety product fields to name a few. Scott’s experience includes working hand-in-hand with entrepreneurs through Fortune 100 Companies throughout North America as they compete with Scott’s help, in the global marketplace successfully. As an experienced designer, facilitator, trainer, and mentor, Scott is directly responsible for 1000's of new products, facilitating 100’s of workshops creating over $100 million in process improvements and growth activities in the past year alone.

Prior to working with Kentucky manufacturers through NIST-MEP, Scott had a long history as an award winning industrial designer. His work can be found in vehicles including the Ford F150, Focus, Lincoln Blackwood as well as Pontiac and GM vehicles. He’s also created over 3 dozen environmental, safety and lighting products. Scott is a graduate of Wayne State University with a wide range of certifications and industrial design awards and currently resides in Georgetown Kentucky. Tim Vickers is a manufacturing professional with more than 30 years' experience in numerous industries, including food processing, spirits, plastics, printing, converting, chemical, automotive, metalworking, electronic assembly, mining, distribution, appliances, and furniture. Trained in Lean Manufacturing, Demand Flow Technology, Toyota Production System, Innovation Engineering, and Six Sigma strategies, his work achieves positive results in product quality, on-time-delivery, inventory management, and profitability both on the shop floor and in the office. Tim has management experience in purchasing, engineering, maintenance, human resources, quality, product development, safety, and training and strengths in teams, problem solving, continuous improvement, 5S, visual management, value stream mapping, pull systems, plant layout, TWI, and achievement of organizational goals. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a BS degree in Business Administration.

George Biggs has 24 years' experience in assessment, training, and implementation of Quality and Lean Manufacturing. His experience has brought companies a lean cost reduction of over 152,000 per year and he has performed safety assessments to ISO, OSHA and EPA guidelines. George received his training in Lean Process Engineering and Central Machining at Nisshian International Institution Kimgo Achi Japan from Master Sensi Furwakawa and Master Sensi Shioda. He received his 6 Sigma Black Belt Certification from GE and holds a Bachelor's degree in business administration from Phillips College, a professional degree in process engineering from Nisshian Institute and an Associate's degree in Electronics from Carter Technical School. Additional certifications include Win-Win Negotiation, Kaizen Office, Ergonomics & Advanced Ergonomics, Safety for Construction PPE, HC, Trenching, Industrial Ventilation, Geometric Tolerance, and JR and JI for TWI. George also has an Ohio Adult Education Teacher's License and is a certified train-the-trainer in JM for TWI.

Brent Renfroe has more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing, specializing in operations management, supply chain management, quality systems, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing. He has worked in a variety of industries including heavy equipment fabrication, injection molding, Tier 1 automotive supply, metal working, printing, and plastic extrusion and processing.

As a Six Sigma Black Belt, trained and certified by Qualtec, Brent has completed Six Sigma projects for both clients and employers that resulted in cost savings and increased quality. He also has provided Six Sigma site support for Green Belt and Black Belt candidates and conducted training in statistics and the use of Minitab software in support of Six Sigma projects. Brent’s past positions have included Director of Purchasing, Purchasing Manager, and Materials Manager, Quality Systems Manager, Director of Quality and he is certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) by the Association for Operations Management (APICS). He is also a certified Lean Manufacturing instructor who has led Lean implementation efforts at a variety of firms, developed Lean training courses and published articles about Lean implementation. Brent is a graduate of Morehead State University and has completed Lean training at the University of Kentucky.
