What is Tau Beta Pi?

Founded at Lehigh University in 1885, Tau Beta Pi is the only honors engineering organization to include all disciplines of engineering. The society looks to recognize those who have brought honor on their Alma Mater through both distinguished grades and exemplary character. Tau Beta Pi also aims to provide leadership development for students and alumni as well as promote lifelong alumnus involvement. Western Kentucky University is home of the Kentucky Gamma chapter of Tau Beta Pi which one of 256 collegiate chapters across the country and one of three collegiate chapters in Kentucky.

Even if you are not an official member, we hope you will stay connected with us and be involved in our Tau Beta Pi events!

How to Join

As an honors society, official Tau Beta Pi membership as a student can be obtained upon invite only, however we welcome all engineering students to join us for many events. Invitations are extended to students who meet requirements for Academic Eligibility and Exemplary Character. A student is academically eligible if they are within the top 1/5 of the engineering Senior class or 1/8 of the engineering Junior class. Exemplary Character is evaluated through an individual's personal integrity, breadth of interest both inside and outside of engineering, adaptability, and unselfish activity.
