We are delighted to announce Western Kentucky University will host a free Philosophy Summer Camp for pre-college students in the Warren County area. The camp is scheduled for August 2-6, 2022, from 8am to 12pm, in Cherry Hall (Room TBD). Lunch and a light breakfast are included, and all participants will get a free t-shirt and philosophy book for some summer reading.
The five-day camp is open to high school students in Warren County. Topics to be discussed will be relativism; Descartes' dream argument in the Meditations; and the distinction between lying and misleading. There will also be an introduction to logic over three sessions. The full program is here: https://orgs.wku.edu/philtoppers/2022.php.
On the last day of the summer camp, we will have students give presentations to show off what they learned (and pondered!). Parents and/or guardians are welcome (and strongly encouraged to attend!) to see students present, take part in the discussion, and eat some of the free pizza.
The application is available here: https://orgs.wku.edu/philtoppers/apply.php. The program is organized by the Department of Political Science at Western Kentucky University. Questions and inquiries can be directed to Dr. Landon Elkind (landon.elkind@wku.edu).
