The HSES (Head Start Enterprise System) Helpdesk recently sent out the following information:

2013-2014 PIR – Advance Copy Version 1.0 Available

The 2013-2014 PIR Advance Copy Version 1.0 is available on the ECLKC PIR web page at http://eclkc.ohs.acf.hhs.gov/pir.

Advanced Copy Version 1.0 is provided as an early notification of what OHS intends to collect through the Program Information Report at the end of the 2013-2014 program year.

The changes, thus far, are focused on improving instructions:

• New instructions and examples were provided for the question on staff-child interaction tools [C.34].
• Additional instructions and changes were added to the list of commonly used tools reported for the questions on developmental screenings, assessment tools, and curriculum [C.30-32].
  
  The pre-populated list of commonly used tools available in the dropdown menu in HSES was updated based on a review of previously reported tools. This list of tools is now included in the question instructions on both the PIR Form (see the ECLKC PIR page) and the PIR data entry screens in HSES. Users will still have the ability to select “Other (Please Specify)” and write in a tool that is not listed.

Head Start and Early Head Start Programs are encouraged to review the PIR Form document and the accompanying “Changes Highlights” document, as they prepare for the 2013-2014 PIR.

Reporting through the Head Start Enterprise System will open for the 2013-2014 program year in late spring/early summer 2014.
