T/TAS is proud to share that the November/December 2015 issue of Child Care Exchange magazine features an article by Margie Carter titled "Redefining Parent Engagement" in which she recommends longtime T/TAS staff and consultant Michael Gramling's book, The Great Disconnect in Early Childhood Education: What We Know vs. What We Do.
In her opening statement, Margie Carter says, "This summer I read a terrific little book by Michael Gramling (2015), The Great Disconnect in Early Childhood Education: What We Know vs. What We Do. I highly recommend it to anyone trying to figure out why publicly-funded ECE programs have not successfully addressed the achievement gap for children living in poverty."
Ms. Carter goes on to highlight Michael's philosophy on Early Childhood Education and his opinion of key problems within the current trends. She then recounts a dialogue with Mary Jo Deck, a Community Engagement Specialist with Smart Start of Buncombe County, NC, about using PhotoVoice™ for a recent project. Ms. Carter references how PhotoVoice is a successful example that relates to Michael's opinions on Early Childhood Education in The Great Disconnect.
