New Administration, New Questions

Anyone in early childhood education is left with questions after the 2016 presidential election — questions because, although education is second only to national security in national importance, very little definitive information has been provided about the incoming administration's plan. In reviewing information available since before the election, the following article outlines President-Elect Trump's most complete position statements with regard to education:
http://www.npr.org/sections/ed/2016/09/25/494740056/donald-trumps-plan-for-americas-schools
The article is a good starting point for conversations that many are having across the country. These potential changes — potentially sweeping changes — could impact families, early childhood education professionals, and federally funded programs. Understanding the options on the table is imperative for strategic planning, collaboration partnerships, fiscal planning/going concern, as well as other professional and personal considerations.
We at T/TAS are gearing up for changes, and are already incorporating those changes into our training and our own program. We are not waiting for implementation since this will have to be done while we operate the program. Our approach is that instead of “introducing” the new standards, we are applying them through the workshops we provide. We think programs will find this approach helpful and beneficial.
