Michael Gramling's book awarded 2017 Silver Medal for Education
- Monday, June 19th, 2017
T/TAS is proud to announce that The Great Disconnect in Early Childhood Education: What We Know vs. What We Do by T/TAS author Michael Gramling has been awarded the National Independent Publisher’s 2017 Silver Medal for Education – Theory and Commentary. It is a ground-breaking volume in which Michael details that early learning standards and school readiness goals have failed to produce any long term benefits while making the daily lives of children and teachers more stressful and tedious. Michael makes the case that, instead, what is needed are classrooms that are more human, responsive, and joyful. Learning environments need to provide experiences that make every child feel that they are loved and that they belong. During this very brief window of opportunity called early childhood, those in the early childcare field need to instill in society’s children the communication and critical thinking skills that last a lifetime.
Society can do better. Read the book. Hold a book study group. Join the many other agencies who have brought Mr. Gramling to their program to enhance staff interactions with children.
