At the heart of 2020 Core Values is the intent to inspire and motivate a new generation of determined leaders with practical ideas and effective strategies. The impetus is an issue that many Early Head Start and Head Start (EHS/HS) programs across the country are facing. As is natural over time, an emerging generation of program leaders are now, or soon will be, managing programs in a number of settings. These individuals have come up the ranks internally or have been recruited for their valuable and unique expertise. Each of these individuals bring exciting talent, ideas, energy, and skills in our essential work with children and families.

What 2020 Core Values provides to this emerging group of managers, supervisors, center directors, or anyone in a lead position, is the opportunity to deeply understand the important values that make EHS/HS programs a national platform for advancement, learning, engagement, and growth to children and families in our most distressed communities. These values are rooted in a historical vision that fosters positive change and a mission to dramatically impact children and families living in poverty.

The structure of 2020 Core Values begins with an affirmation of the meaning and purpose for the work that occurs daily in EHS/HS programs. Following that overview, the agenda centers on how to develop and elevate a team of workers who will make an effective program run smoothly. The second day centers on the essential foundations in our work with children and families. The event‘s last set of activities will analyze how leadership skills lead to both personal and professional excellence. At the conclusion, each participant will consider individual action steps and plans for implementation. Overall intention for the 2020 Core Values event is to inspire with realistic strategies which will lead to greater individual professional development.

In addition to the main 2020 Core Values event, TTAS will sponsor a series of pre- and post- event informational Hot Tips videos. These short online segments will provide practical strategies for EHS/HS leaders. Hot Tips topics will include: Public Speaking, How to Run Efficient Meetings, Basics in Customer Service, Body Language, and others. Be sure to join us for these 2020 Core Values opportunities!

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will reaffirm the core values in the vision and mission of EHS/HS programs;
  • Participants will learn to engage in developing work teams with effective collaboration and clear communication;
  • Participants will be prepared to deeply support children’s development and learning, and establish positive relationships with participating families; and
  • Participants will continue to expand leadership and management skills in running an EHS/HS program of excellence.
